After relocating to a new city, my girlfriends encouraged me to try online dating. I was adamant about not trying online dating ever ! Finally, i cracked and signed up for a free weekend on a popular online dating site. Being totally clueless, I invested alot of time completing my online profile and uploading my photos.
Within the first hour of my posted online dating profile, I was giddy that I had an IM from a potential date. His IM's were complimentary, his heart out there and he seemed to be "into me". We IM'd back and forth for the entire weekend. Wow...this online dating site is good :))) My potential date IM'd his photos. He was an Airforce Pilot stationed at Iraq. Nice...handsome, tall and I love men in uniform :) He proceeded to tell me stories of his war experience...complete with how he has saved many of "the enemy"....wow...a hero too :) My hero :)))
Towards the end of our first weekend IM'ing each other, my army pilot suitor asks me to mail him some items because he is very homesick for the US. He asks for an iPod, a digital camera (so he could take more photos to IM me), cologne, candy and more photos of me :) This seemed a bit odd for me so soon...I've only IM'd him 24 hours ago....so....being suspicious I ask where to mail the items. I google the address and learn this is a huge dating scam :))) My army pilot was being impersonating by a scammer in Gyana :))) No wonder he only wanted to IM :)))
Nope, I did not send him anything :))) Did IM him to let him know what i discovered though :))) Now i'm wondering if he is using my photos to impersonate a woman on an online dating site :)) Through the help of another military guy, I was able to track down the army pilot and let him know he was being impersonated :)))
I still receive emails from online dating sites offerring "24 hours free" and quickly hit delete :))) I don't need any help attracting strange men :)) stay tuned :))

dating isnt for sissies
My motivation to launch this blog is from my girlfriends. They either live vicariously through me, laugh about my dating experiences or listen when a romance goes south.
My singlehood began 4 years ago. As a newly divorced woman, I assumed the dating world would be easy. Hey.....it was easy in my 20's....so what I'm older now... :))) What I didn't realize is we have baggage from our life experiences since we were 20 somethings :)) In addition, there was not online dating sites, just newspaper ads men seeking women etc....
I'm a work in progress in the dating world.
